The Softest Sheets
December 30, 2007, 8:21 pm
Dawn and Matt got Lily very soft sheets for Christmas. You may think a 3-year-old wouldn't get excited over sheets. However Lily is obsessed with soft, pretty sheets and blankets. I bought her some Dora sheets and blankets, and she refuses to sleep on them. The deemed them "scratchy!" and threw them off her bed.So I put Lily's new very soft sheet on her bed, and she laughed hysterically in her bed. I turned off the light and closed the door and could still hear her laughing and moving her feet along the soft sheet. She has requested that if the sheet ever needs to be washed that I do it in one day so that she can still sleep on it at night.

Noah and Lily have started playing together. They still argue about 80% of the time, but they also like to build forts, play with play doh, play hide and seek, color, and watch movies together.I think this is the cutest picture of Noah and Lily to date:

Lily loves to cut and paste. She prefers the "messy glue" to glue sticks. I have to sit with her to avoid huge messes. Tonight she made a beautiful snowman with some help from Noah. Lily asked that I take some pictures of her with her messy glue:

Noah was awarded his Bobcat badge at Cub Scouts this evening. In a very fancy ceremony, Nathan gave Noah a badge. Then Noah gave Nathan a ribbon for helping him earn his badge.Nathan then painted Noah's face symbolically. I don't remember what each color symbolized as I was busy taking pictures. Noah was very excited to have his face painted like a warrior. Then Noah got to paint Papa's nose white. Pretty exciting stuff!
(I had to break the news to Noah that he couldn't keep the paint on for school tomorrow).

Playing in the Snow
December 17, 2007, 10:00 pm
Lily asks to play in the snow every day. She asks when she wakes up, during the day, and even when it's dark outside. This morning Lily enjoyed walking through the deep snow (it's really deep to a 3-year-old), making snow angels, throwing snow, and attempting to hit me with a snowball (she's as good at throwing snowballs as her mom, so I was safe). She would like Papa to build her a snowman soon, and she wants to put a carrot on for a nose. She asked if the snowman would come to life if we put a hat on it.
Lily in the snow: (she yelled "Happy Halloween!" as I took this picture)
Lily throwing snow:
Lily even tries to save snow and ice, and I find little puddles of water on her dresser and dollhouse. I'm starting to enjoy playing in the snow due to her enthusiasm. I hope you all stay warm and have a wonderful Halloween! (What are you going to be for Christmas??)[ 1 comment ] ( 12 views )
'Tis the Season

To get all dressed up...Lily likes to find any excuse to wear her purple holiday dress:
Nathan and I went out on the town and got dressed up too (Lily thought my dress was a good twirling dress):

"After Christmas I can be bad, right?""I need to drop a deuce!" (Thanks Nathan)
"Noah is my best friend in the whoooooole world!"
"My Papa LOVES to sit on Santa's lap!"
"I can't chew on this side of my mouth." (I had a temporary crown for a while, and Lily had sympathy pains.)
"Papa, you were a good boy to me this morning."

Really Big Kids
December 10, 2007, 4:00 pm
When Noah went to the doctor last week and it was time for his throat culture, I asked if he wanted to sit on my lap. He said, "No way!" He sat still all by himself, and I realized how much he's grown. We went to Breakfast with Santa yesterday, and I assumed Noah would love it. Noah looked bored playing in the play area at the mall until his friend Emily came. Then they played follow the leader and walked around the playground rather than really playing on the toys. Dawn and I watched them and commented on how they were the biggest kids in the playground and were clearly getting to old for some of the activities.
Look how ginormous they are:

Over the past 3 months Lily has really matured. I suppose preschool has a lot to do with her change in behavior. Lily likes to play with Noah in his room upstairs (with the door shut). She often plays alone in her room. She goes to the bathroom by herself and prefers to shut and lock the door for privacy. Lily went to The Bee Movie and sat through the whole thing! (She only whispered to me a few times).Lily went to her friend Sophia's party yesterday and filled up a teddy bear. She participated all by herself, and picked out a pink bear with a pink outfit and named the bear Pinky.
She loves to paint, draw, and cut. She can't get enough of arts and crafts at home and school.
Here's our big girl:

Noah had strep throat for the first time last week. He missed 3 days of school and spent a lot of time playing monopoly, watching television, and napping. He was ready to return to school after 5 days at home. Here he is beating me at monopoly:

Lily had another opportunity to ask Santa and Mrs. Claus for "Fulled up the teddy" on Sunday morning at Breakfast with Santa. I thought the kids were very lucky that Santa was at our mall to have breakfast with us. Lily gave Santa a picture she colored and posed for some pictures. Santa comes to Nathan's work for cookies on Friday. I told Lily and she said, "I've seen him enough!"

Noah has quite the sense of humor. He gets his wit from his Mom. Here are a few recent moments that cracked me up:Noah woke up in the middle of the night with a fever. I gave him some medicine and brought him into bed with Nathan and me. As we were drifting back to sleep we had the following conversation:
Mama: Noah, you smell like toast. Your head smells just like toast to me.
Noah: Well, I have a fever! I'm all hot like toast. It's like I've been in a toaster for 3 weeks.
Mama and Papa: (Laughter)
Noah: Maybe having a fever is good because I make people laugh.
Next scenario:
Noah and Lily were eating fruit snacks, which are sticky. I recently had a temporary crown placed, and the dentist warned me not to eat anything sticky.
Lily offered me a fruit snack, and I explained that I couldn't eat any because it would stick to my temporary crown. I told them that next week I will get a permanent crown.
Noah walked by me and looked at me casually and asked, "Gold?"
I couldn't stop laughing over the thought of me with a big gold crown on my tooth. I think Noah has watched too much Pirates of the Caribbean.

Christmas Cheer

Ho! Ho! Ho! (I really wish everyone could have witnessed Nathan's Santa Claus impersonation. It was fantastic although it scared Lily just a little...)
