Noah was very into Christmas this year (of course). He spent a lot of time looking at presents and talking about Christmas this month. He will tell you "Jesus is the most important thing about Christmas. It's his birthday. And Santa is important."Noah had a great time with Uncle Jason this year. Jason spent the majority of his time playing with Noah and putting together many toys. It's great to have an uncle who can devote so much time to you.
Lily received a doll from Santa (known as "be-be"). She is already quite motherly. Lily carries baby or pushes her in the stroller. Lily is a bit of an irritated mother who gets frustrated by the stroller or carrying her baby and all of the supplies. (I can relate).
Lily's baby came with a bottle and juice cup that appear to have liquid in them that disappears when turned upside down. Lily thought this was a cruel trick when she first tried to drink the juice and discovered it was gone and wouldn't come out. We explained the juice and milk are for baby, and now she feeds her baby. She also drinks her real juice while holding baby's juice.
It's fun to think about the previous Christmases and the ones to come. Last year Lily was just 4 months old and didn't participate much in Christmas. Noah is getting more and more excited and involved each year. Next year Noah will be 5 1/2 and Lily will be 2...I think we're going to have fun.[ 1 comment ] ( 17 views )
My Christmas Presents
December 22, 2005, 3:25 pm
Noah got me 4 presents for Christmas, and I know exactly what I'm getting. Noah tried to keep the secret from me, but we're together a lot. I told him I didn't want to know, so he gave me hints. These were my hints:
1. Something you wear on your feet at night.
2. Something you light with a match.
3. Something you put your coffee in.
4. Something you put your coffee in when you are in the car.
So on Christmas Eve I will be excited to get my slippers, candle, coffee mug, and travel mug. He knows what Mama likes (even if they won't be surprises).[ 4 comments ] ( 25 views )
Communication
December 15, 2005, 10:12 am
Lily is learning new words every day and communicating with us more and more. Here are some helpful words that she knows: Noah, Mama, Papa, Jackie, more, down, up, night night, milk, juice, water, hot, walk (takes our hand and wants to go somewhere), eggs, banana, apple, bye bye, thank you, and poopy (which she says before she goes). Not so helpful words: no, candy, and cookie.
Some other new words: turkey, fish (she says these two words after she says Papa), Abby, Scott, Theresa (babysitter and husband and daughter), baby, giraffe, dog, and cat.
I realized how great her communication was when she brought me a skillet last night and requested eggs for dinner.

Boys

Nathan loves to warm his feet by the fire. He also enjoys watching really boring (educational) shows on PBS.Last week Nathan was away on business, and Noah and I were watching TV. I started a fire, and Noah immediately took his shoes off and warmed his feet by the fire just like Papa. Then I was switching channels on the TV and he yelled, "STOP THERE!" He had me stop at a PBS show on bees. Then a show came on about Antarctica. He watched the whole thing while warming his feet.
I guess I knew it was only a matter of time...

tur-key!
December 5, 2005, 4:46 pm
As many of you know, Nathan is really into turkeys (looking for them, hunting them, etc.) Yesterday he wore a shirt with a picture of a turkey on it. He pointed to the picture and told Lily that it was a turkey. Lily exclaimed, "Tur-Key!" It was a great day for Papa...
