A Kansas Thanksgiving
November 27, 2007, 11:58 am
We drove to Kansas to spend Thanksgiving with Grandmas, Grandpa, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins this year. I don't think Lily and Noah wanted to return home after all of the food and fun.Due to a snow storm, we stopped at a hotel on the way to Kansas. Our room had its own jacuzzi which the kids found very exciting and entertaining:
Noah hung out a lot with cousins Lauren and Huck. They got a little rambunctious and times as seen in this picture: (O.K. so maybe Noah was the craziest one)
Lily couldn't wait to see all of her relatives AND the dog Spanky. She was especially excited to celebrate her Grandma Linda's birthday. She also enjoyed being read to, putting on lots of purple lip gloss, and having tea parties with both of her Grandmas:
Lulu and Lula: (they couldn't be cuter)
I just love Huck's outfit here:
Grandpa and Troy built, painted, and decorated Noah's pinewood derby car for cub scouts (with a little help from Noah):
Lily was pretty exhausted at the end of the trip:
Now our tree is up and the kids are very excited for Christmas. You know what's on Lily's list. Noah wants a Pirate Book. Noah also claims this will indeed be the best Christmas ever...[ 2 comments ] ( 17 views )
A Thanksgiving Feast
November 27, 2007, 11:49 am
Lily had a Thanksgiving Feast at preschool complete with turkey, stuffing, fancy juice, and pumpkin cookies. Lily picked at her meal but then devoured her frosted cookie. She always has room for dessert it seems. Here she is enjoying the festivities:

November 18, 2007, 4:54 pm
We went to the Lighting of the downtown commons last night. Lily was very excited and a bit nervous to talk to Santa and Mrs. Claus. She asked where Santa lived and what he would be wearing and then she would laugh nervously and say, "Oh he has a white beard and says Ho Ho Ho!" Last year Lily wouldn't get more than an arm's length to Santa, so I figured she'd chicken out this year too.Boy was I wrong. Lily asked to see Santa, walked right up to him, let him pick her up, and very seriously told him the 3 things she would like for Christmas:
1. Fulled up the teddy
2. A big Dora doll
3. Makeup
I'm not sure if Santa Claus understood what Lily asked for, but he seemed to get a kick out of her intensity...
Lily also enjoyed lots of free hot chocolate (which she referred to as coffee):
Today Lily talked about Santa to me and said, "Now that was a different Santa from last time. His beard was not as white."
Uh-oh.

The Stolen Gloves
November 8, 2007, 9:54 pm
We went to Dick's Sporting Goods last night to look for some running pants. I pushed Lily around in a cart, and she enjoyed looking for items for herself. She kept saying that she needed some running pants. Then she found some cute pink gloves. She asked me to buy the gloves for her, but they weren't her size and she already has gloves. I put them back on the shelf, and Lily cried a little while I looked at clothes for myself. This morning I went to work, and when I opened my purse I discovered the pink gloves:
I contacted Nathan to inform him of our daughter's first crime. I think it's quite fitting that Pinky stole a pair of pink gloves.
After work I told Lily that I found the pink gloves in my purse. Wouldn't you know, she had a great story to explain everything:
Lily: The cleaning ladies stole them! They put them in your purse!
Mama: You're telling me the cleaning ladies were at Dick's Sporting Good last night? You saw them there?
Lily: Yes! They were there! They are always causing so much trouble. Swiper the sneaky fox was there too! Didn't you see him? I said, "Swiper no swiping!" but he took the gloves!
Mama: Lily are you making this up?
Lily: (Huge, ornery grin)
(Note: I will return the gloves tomorrow.)[ 3 comments ] ( 24 views )
The First Fire
November 8, 2007, 9:45 pm
Nathan started the 1st fire of the season tonight. I was doing dishes, and everyone was out of the kitchen (Lily usually doesn't leave my side). I found Nathan, Noah, and Lily with their "feet in the fire." One of our favorite nighttime traditions...

Noah started boy scouts this year, and he's a proud tiger cub. Noah and Papa have already gone camping with cubs, caught fish at a fishing derby, and sold some popcorn as a fundraiser.Noah wore his uniform for the first time last night, and he was very proud of the cool shiny belt. A belt AND patches? Every 6-year-old boy's dream outfit...
(I personally enjoy the orange neckerchief) (That's seriously what they call it)

Emily had a Harry Potter themed party for her 8th Birthday (much to my delight). The children were encouraged to dress as their favorite Harry Potter character. I thought Noah would make a great Malfoy with his blond hair, but he looked at me like I was crazy when I made that suggestion.Noah wanted to be Harry Potter of course. Who else? I couldn't find an actual Harry Potter costume in the tri-state area, but we put together a hodgepodge of items and came up with a costume that made Noah very happy.
Emily was Hermione, and the other Emily is Professor Mcgonagall.
Enjoy...

Dawn and I took Lily and Kevin to The Wiggles last night. This was Lily's first concert ever, and she was very excited. We got out of the car and Lily sang at the top of her lungs, "Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy!" all the way to the door.Lily asked questions the entire concert:
Where did Dorothy go?
Where is the red Wiggle?
Can I go down on the stage?
Where is Wags? Is he resting?
When is the big red car coming out?
What is your favorite color Wiggle, Mom?
Can we go down there and eat that fruit?
Etc.
Here are some highlights:
Big red car spotting:
Singing Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy:
Dancing on the steps:
