What do YOU want for Christmas?

November 29, 2006, 1:52 pm

With the Christmas tree and stockings up, there is lots of talk about Christmas these days. Lily loves our tree and often brings me ornaments which I then get to put back on the tree. Lily asks to hold her stocking and then talks about how it will be filled with "two toys." She looks a little confused about this, but her brother said it was so. I'm not sure where the two came from.

Lily asks us how our day is and now "What do YOU want for Christmas?" She doesn't really seem to care what we want but just waits for us to ask her that question to which she responds, "I want a couch like Kevin's but pink and yellow and makeup...purple and pink and yellow...and bubble bath...pink!"

Oh pinky!

(Please don't buy her makeup)

Whole lot of Star Wars

November 29, 2006, 1:49 pm

Noah is really into Star Wars these days. We have borrowed the movies from Matt, and he loves them. He is very into the lightsabers and knows which color of lightsaber each character has. He would like us to be Star Wars characters for Halloween next year: Noah as Darth Vader (red lightsaber), Papa as Darth Maul (double red lightsaber), Mama as Princess Leia, and Lily as Yoda. I would rather Nathan and Noah be the good guys, but Noah thinks the Darth Vader mask is very cool. And a double lightsaber? You can't top that.

Nathan is really enjoying this...

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 23, 2006, 7:38 pm

We spent a quiet (as quiet as it gets with 2 kids) Thanksgiving at home this year. Lily is thankful for Noah, and Noah is thankful for Christmas coming up.

Nathan made a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner:

Lily discovered cranberries, and she loves them.

Boys eating turkey.

Noah loves Shirley Temples (or "red juice")

And Nathan and I celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary:

The Christmas tree is up, and the Christmas music is already playing. Noah says this will be "the best Christmas ever!"

Just like Papa

November 16, 2006, 7:52 am

Nathan went hunting last weekend in Kansas, so I let Noah sleep with me while he was gone. The first night, I was getting ready for bed in the bathroom and Noah was waiting for me in bed. I came out of the bathroom to find Noah reading a book about Hawaii. He looked up, put a bookmark in the book, and set the book on the table by the bed. Then he looked at me. Nathan does this same thing every night, so I felt like I was looking at a miniature version of Nathan.

Imagination

November 10, 2006, 3:22 pm

Lily loves to pretend. Her friend Kevin turned 1 last week, and we went to 2 parties for him where we sang Happy Birthday. Lily sings Happy Birthday to Kevin every night, pretends to blow out a candle, and pretends to eat the cake off her fingers (like Kevin did). I hear her smacking her lips when I leave the room.

Lily likes eating from her little dishes in her kitchen (both real food and pretend food). Here she is with her "table" (Elmo stool) and "chair" (potty chair) eating from her little bowl with little spoon:

Fall Photo Shoot

November 10, 2006, 3:18 pm

Much to my dismay, Noah often covers up his face when I get the camera out. So I was very happy to get some fall pictures of him this year:

Ho Ho Ho!

November 7, 2006, 9:39 am

Noah's first take-home project for Kindergarten involved disguising an animal. Papa had the great idea, Noah did the cutting (the boy loves scissors), and Mama did the gluing.

Can you guess what the animal is???

The things she says...

November 3, 2006, 1:00 pm

Lily talks from when we get into the car until we're at our destination. Nathan and I are asked the same questions over and over. I have found myself simply says, "Yes, yes," and then she yells at me because she asked me something that I'm supposed to answer "no" to. Sometimes I find it hard to drive.

Lily asks us "How's your day?" Then she expects us to ask her the same, and if we don't she tells us to ask her. She likes to talk about her day and share the exciting stories (books we've read, a good nap she took, if she had a poopy diaper or not).

Lily calls everything "whole bag." For example, if you open a pop she will ask for the whole bag (can). If you open her cereal up, she wants to carry around the whole bag (box). She likes to carry around her whole bag of candy (pumpkin).

Lily and I spent Tuesday together at home and then going shopping. I got her out of the car at the store, and she looked at me and exclaimed, "I happy Mama!" I asked, "You're happy?" She said, "I happy I spend whole day with Mama!"

Halloween '06

November 1, 2006, 8:31 am

Halloween is over after many days of activities. Noah and Lily went trick-or-treating at Nathan's work, went to Boo at the zoo, and went trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. Noah also had a parade and party at school.

Here are some pictures of Mrs. Kincaid's class (Noah's Kindergarten) on Halloween:

Mrs. Kincaid leading the children in song:

Noah's table at school is the "green" table. He sits by his friend Cade:

The Gunn family made their annual visit to our house last night bearing gifts and a Power Ranger!

Here is Noah ready to trick-or-treat: (he decided to go without the mask)

Glow-stick obsessed monkey:

And Noah's loot (we like to separate out the different kinds of candy):
