Cousin Bonding
November 30, 2005, 7:38 pm
We spent a week in New York City over Thanksgiving. Noah was so excited for his "first plane trip ever!" (He was 2 1/2 the last time he went to NY).Here are some highlights of the trip for Noah...
The little red lighthouse and the big grey bridge:
Throwing rocks with Uncle Troy:
Riding on a boat to see the Statue of Liberty:
Hangin' with cousin Huck (he loves his cousin):
And many activities with Aunt JJ including making Christmas cookies, making crafts, getting gumballs, and making messes.
Lily enjoyed the trip as well. She was a little rough with cousin Huck at first (a.k.a. "baby!" "baby!") but also had some tender moments with him:
JJ and I did enjoy dressing our babies in matching outfits for the Christmas season:

Lil' Lily
November 18, 2005, 10:10 am
Lily had her 15-month check up this week. Much to my amazement she weighs a mere 21 pounds. With Noah as my first experience I am shocked whenever I take Lily in and get her weighed. The Dr. assured me that she's completely normal and just petite at the 25th percentile in both weight and height. (Noah was an inch off the charts until his 2nd birthday when he finally hit the charts at the 97th%tile).Lily got 2 shots, and she didn't cry. She refused. She was just angry that I held her down. She got up after the 2nd shot and wanted on the ground and then walked around (in just a diaper) and told off the nurse. (She's spunky for sure.)
The doctor told me that 2nd-borns tend to take one of two paths. They are either slow to reach developmental milestones because older siblings and parents do things for them or they are advanced. So far Lily is advanced and wants to do things for herself. A friend of mine called her precocious. Perhaps she is...precocious and petite.

November 15, 2005, 9:17 pm
Noah and I were playing cars this evening and here was our conversation:Noah: When I get old I'm going to lose all my hair.
Mama: Really? Why is that?
Noah: I'm going to lose my hair like Grandpa Hottman.
Mama: Oh, I see.
Noah: (Big smile) AND get a beard.
Mama: Pretty good deal.
Noah: Yeah.[ 1 comment ] ( 23 views )

Following directions
November 12, 2005, 5:11 pm
Lily follows directions now. It's very cute. Last night I was going to give her a bath, and she walked into the bathroom with just her diaper and shirt on. I asked, "Where are your pants, Lily? Go get them." She left the room muttering something to herself and came back with her pants. She was so proud.Lily is also into cleanliness. She will throw trash in the trashcans. She walks around saying, "Trash, trash, trash" when we ask her to throw something away. She also likes to clean. I give her a washcloth after meals, and she cleans up her highchair and wipes her face and hands (somewhat). She then holds it up and yells, "THANK YOU!"[ 3 comments ] ( 26 views )

Noah is usally the first to wake up, and he comes into our room and gets in bed with us. Last week he climbed into bed next to me and said, "Mama you're the goodest thing in my life."[ 3 comments ] ( 24 views )Toys R Us Big Book
November 11, 2005, 9:30 am
We received the Toys R Us Big Book about a week ago, and Noah looks at it at least 5 times every day. It's starting to fall apart. On the first day he circled everything in the book that was for a boy. When we get to the pink pages with dolls Noah says in disgust "turn the page...girls stuff."Nathan and I spend time each day looking at the toys with Noah. I thought he was expecting everything in the book. I explained to him that he can't get all the toys. I also explained that some children get very little and how being greedy isn't a good thing.
Noah listened to me and then explained that he isn't going to get everything he circled THIS year. He has 3 things he wants this year. The other things he can get in following years (when he's 5, 6, etc.)
This year Noah wants the following things:
1. A magic set with a magic wand (like Harry Potter)
2. A toy chainsaw
3. A snowball making kit
I guess that's not too greedy. He also has toys circled for Lily and his cousins, and he keeps asking me what I want. Now there's the spirit...
(Speaking of greedy, feel free to email my husband that it's time to get me a digital camera. This blog is clearly suffering.)[ 2 comments ] ( 19 views )
BATMAN
November 1, 2005, 2:18 pm
Here he is...
He became Batman when we put on his costume. He was very serious and often pulled out his cape. But I got a kick out of Batman raking and especially Batman in a carseat. I mean...a superhero in a carseat??
Here is Batman's cute sidekick Tinkerbell (notice they held hands)...

My Pooh and Piglet
November 1, 2005, 2:14 pm
This is just for you, Jean. I think you know who you are...
Note: Noah refused to wear the Pooh costume out of the house. At the young age of 4 Noah feels that Pooh is "out." He did humor his Mama and pose for pictures with his sister. He made a wonderful Pooh if only for a few minutes...[ 4 comments ] ( 32 views )
