Love tank

November 30, 2004, 10:15 pm

Noah is crazy about snow. He had the opportunity to play in the snow at his Grandparent's house last week, and now he wants it to snow here...desperately. The forecast was for snow last night, so I made the mistake of telling Noah that he would wake up to snow. I won't make that mistake again. Of course there was no snow. Noah was not thrilled with me.

But while Noah napped today it snowed and snowed and snowed. Nathan came home from work and woke Noah up from his nap (crazy, I know but it was going to be dark soon) with the news that it was snowing. Noah was as happy as I have ever seen him.

Noah and Nathan got bundled up and went out to tackle the snow. They made snow angels and threw snowballs at each other and made the sweetest snowman I have ever seen.

After their adventure we decided to go get Indian food (always a suggestion from me). We were at the restaurant, and Noah was so happy. He kept asking to sit on Nathan's lap (something he hasn't done in a long time). He gave all of us (Lily included) multiple hugs and kisses.

Noah's love tank was full.

Love tank comes from a book called "The Five Love Languages." Noah's love language is quality time, and his Papa had just spent some major quality time with him.

I love that boy...

Easily amused

November 4, 2004, 1:28 pm

My kids seem to be easily amused today. I put Lily in her bouncy seat earlier and as I put on the toy bar she squealed in delight. This is the same toy bar she stares at for an hour or so every day. I don't know why it got a squeal today.

Noah is currently outside fighting "monsters" (the big evergreen trees in our backyard) with a snow shovel. It's very entertaining to watch.

Please, don't buy my children any toys for Christmas...

Politics

November 3, 2004, 4:16 pm

I still remember vividly (as I'm sure everyone in America does) what I was doing on September 11, 2001, when I realized we were under attack. I was sitting downstairs watching The Today Show and nursing Noah. I remember looking at the television in complete disbelief as the second plane hit the tower and then thinking how Noah had no idea what was going on.

Today I was nursing Lily when John Kerry gave his concession speech. Once again my little babes have no idea what is going on in our country. They are so innocent.

I have talked to Noah today about my anger and disappointment over the election. After explaining that my candidate lost, Noah looked at me and said, "Let's talk about something else, Mama!"

Amen!

I hope Noah and Lily grow up to have strong opinions and passionate beliefs. I hope they vote in every election. Sure I hope they are Democrats like me, but more importantly I hope they have minds of their own...
