9:17 a.m.
September 14, 2007, 10:19 am
I just checked the clock, and it's 9:17 a.m. Already today I've washed 4 loads of laundry including Noah and Lily's sheets and special blankets. I've helped Noah clean up after 2 trips to the bathroom. I've resorted to putting Lily in a pull-up after cleaning her up countless times. I've taken a bath myself for some comfort and ended up with a bloody nose and mistakenly used Lily's special Elmo washcloth in an attempt to stop the bleeding. I haven't heard the end of it from Lily who is outraged that I would use HER washcloth for MY bloody nose. She insisted I wash it, and I figure another load of laundry before 9:17 doesn't matter.I never remember how bad stomach viruses are.
It's 9:19. Great.[ 3 comments ] ( 31 views )
aDORAble Preschooler

Lily woke up excited for her first day of preschool. She decided to wear her tutu from Dawn so that she would "look pretty." After talking for ten minutes and explaining that a tutu isn't appropriate for preschool, she finally picked out a pink dress instead.Lily didn't cry when I dropped her off. She drew with markers at a table full of adorable little girls in dresses. When I picked her up she was very proud of her two crafts. She colored a picture of her preschool and drew a trampoline.
Lily's teacher, Mrs. Williams, told me that Lily got a little teary eyed during recess and Mrs. Williams had to talk to her about Emily, Matt, Dawn, and Kevin, and then Lily was fine.
After preschool we ate at Old McDonald (that's what Lily calls McDonalds) and then went swimming. Lily kept telling me the importance of saying please and thank you, so there may be hope for her after all. Oh, and she told me, "I'm wearing my tutu next time I go to school!"
Oi.

We spent last weekend visiting Jean, TJ, David, Julia, Julie, Victor, Elena, and Miles. Julie and Victor moved away to a town about 2 hours from us. We were so sad to see them go but happy that they were close enough to still get together. Then Jean called me with the news that they were moving to the same town that Julie lives in! I was so excited to have Jean closer and that she could be friends with Julie. We all met in their town over Labor Day weekend. We quckly realized that the children are 6,5,4,3,2, and 1. Not only that they alternate boy-girl.
Noah 6
Elena 5
David 4
Lily 3
Miles 2
Julia 1
We are so impressed that we managed this amazing feat. And then we decided we had to get a picture of all 6 kids together. Somehow they all cooperated!
The kids:
The moms (Julie, Jeni, and Jean):
The dads: (Victor, Nathan, and TJ...and yes, this was as close as they would get)
We had a great weekend visiting, playing outside, eating dinner, reading books, dancing, wrestling, and catching up. We can't wait for the next get-together...[ 2 comments ] ( 28 views )
Candid shots

During our trip to visit Jean, TJ, Julie, Victor, and kids, I requested some candid pictures. Of course the guys pointed out that if I request candid shots they couldn't really be candid. What do they know?

Noah loves 1st grade and says, "It's way easier than Kindergarten!" I wonder how that's possible as he has homework most weeknights. He has a spelling test every Friday, which he studies for throughout the week. His first list of words included the word "a." I have to admit I giggled a little when asking Noah to spell "a." Noah is learning how to read and brings home books to read each week. He's proud that he can read the books quickly as he learns more words and how to sound out new words. We're very proud of him.[ 1 comment ] ( 15 views )Off to Preschool

Lily starts preschool for 3-year-olds tomorrow! She will be attending preschool for 3 hours, 2 days a week. According to Noah she will be on the time-out chair A LOT. We're not sure how Lily will behave in preschool. We hope she respects authority like her brother always has. We have a feeling she may talk too much.Lily received a Dora backpack for her birthday, and it's almost bigger than her.
Stay tuned for Lily Preschool stories...[ 1 comment ] ( 14 views )
Trouble

I'm having trouble telling Lily no lately. I think it has something to do with how cute she is... (and she's very persistent)Any suggestions?
Lulu in a tutu:
Wearing a hat because it was "hat day" at Noah's school (she's also in favor of peace):
Just plain silly:
