Lily these days

September 28, 2006, 8:59 pm

We recently discovered that Lily is left-handed. (Just like her Mama.) She loves to color, and she always uses her left hand. She fills pages with tiny circles. She also enjoys drawing flowers.

Lily loves to "go shopping" with her Mama. She gets her purse and diaper bag filled, and plays with the contents on the way to the store.

She can't get enough of books. When we read to her at night, she wants "Last One?" about 10 times. I could read for hours, and I think she would sit on my lap happily. Her favorite books are Inside Outside Upside Down, Puppies at Play, Pat the Bunny, and the 12 days of Sunshine.

Lily also sings the ABC song. She starts laughing halfway through if I ask her to sing it for someone else, but she sings it a lot to me when we're home alone. She can also count to 10 but often leaves out the number 6.

Lily will tell you she's 2, Noah is 5, and Mama and Papa are 32. She won't accept that Papa is now 33.

Lily had her first playgroup today with Emmett and Kevin. She had a hard time sharing with Emmett, but she keeps talking about what fun she had.

Papa: 1 Noah and Lily: 0

They put up a good fight, but Papa was a Marine. I kept telling Lily to say "SUPERBEBE!" but she wouldn't.

Kindergarten Website

September 24, 2006, 8:49 pm

Noah informed me today that his Kindergarten class has a website. I have spent lots of time learning about his classmates and teacher. I love seeing pictures of Noah in school...

Noah's caterpillar turned into a butterfly and was set free (off to Mexico apparently):

Here is the link to Mrs. Kincaid's website:

(I don't think they had all this when I was in kindergarten)

Aunlori

September 24, 2006, 8:41 pm

I've heard a lot about Aunt Lori since returning from Hawaii. Noah informed me of the following things:

"Did you know that Aunt Lori used to live with Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt JJ and you?!! All in one house! Did you know that?"

I found all of Noah's change sorted out into different bags (one for quarters, one for dimes, etc.). Noah showed me a ledger of exactly how much change he has. Then he looked at me with wide eyes and said (with utmost respect), "Did you know that Aunt Lori used to work in a bank?!"

Lily calls Aunt Lori "Aunlori" and now when we pass a picture of Lori in our house she yells, "AUNLORI! Let me look at it!" and she stares at her Aunt for a while.

So, thanks Aunt Lori for flying all the way to Illinois and take good care of your nephew and niece...

Back from Hawaii

September 21, 2006, 10:32 pm

Finally, the pictures you have all been waiting for (or maybe just Aunt JJ?!)

Nathan and I spent the past 6 days in Hawaii while Aunt Lori, Matt, Dawn, Theresa, and Scott took care of our children. We are so thankful that we have family and friends who care so much for our children.

The first day we were in Hawaii I noticed Nathan and I kept talking about Noah and Lily. I made fun of us and Nathan said, "Hey, we love our kids. So what?" So we continued to point out wildlife, volcanoes, flowers, etc. and say, "Boy, would Noah and Lily love THIS!"

On our last day in Hawaii, I found Nathan in his normal spot on Waikiki, and he informed me that he had fallen in love that morning. He pointed out the girl, a two-year-old blond in a bikini. She never stopped moving or talking, and she reminded us of someone.

Here are some highlights from the trip:

Nathan and I really wanted to drink something from a coconut. We bought these coconuts from a local Hawaiian and his two pit bulls. We drank coconut milk from coconuts in Hawaii:

Nathan looked at lots and lots of maps (and wore a very touristy hat):

Nathan went snorkeling a lot (this picture gets me every time):

This one too:

I kept saying all I wanted to do was lay on a beach, and I did:

And put my feet in the sand (yes, we went to a black sand beach):

And here is the sunset on our last day in Hawaii:

And we hope some day to return with Noah and Lily...

Soccer Time

September 14, 2006, 7:51 am

It's that time of year again. Noah is very excited about soccer. He will tell you that his team's name is "team" (they yell "GO TEAM!" before they play). His shirt is light blue, and his number is 1!

Noah happily posed for the following photo shoot and even tried to do similar poses to last year. He's a son after his Mama's heart...

Happy Birthday Dear Papa!

September 14, 2006, 7:48 am

Papa turned 33! Noah is still excited about birthdays (anyone's birthday), and he loves to "help" open presents. Lily is CRAZY about birthday candles and cakes. She begged to sing Happy Birthday to Papa for days before his birthday.

Noah Lee

September 4, 2006, 2:12 pm

Everyone asks Noah how Kindergarten is. He responds, "Good." He likes his teacher, Mrs. Kincaid. He has lots of new friends like Cade and Jake. He loves recess and gym. He thinks hot lunch is the best. He enjoys riding the school bus but thinks it stops too much. He loves his caterpillar which he named Johnny and which will turn into a monarch butterfly soon. He can't wait for Johnny to do the "J Hang." He has poems memorized for the numbers 1-6, and he's proud that he can write his letters better than "when he was 4."

Noah and new friend Cade:

(I had him practice smiling for his school pictures in this shot. I can only pray that he really smiled like this at school. I think most of you know how Noah usually smiles for school pictures...)

CLARIFICATIONS for AUNT JJ:

1. Cade and Noah were playing dress-up
2. Once the caterpillar has found what it considers to be a safe place, usually under a leaf, branch or building overhang, it will spin a small silk pad and attach itself to the pad by its hind feet. The caterpillar then "goes J" and hangs upside down from the silk pad. About a day later it sheds its skin to enter the chrysalis (pupa).

Lily Starr

September 4, 2006, 2:07 pm

I asked Lily a few questions this morning, and here were her answers:

Favorite toy: puzzles
Favorite book: Jamberry
Favorite person: Mama
Favorite food: Apples
Favorite drink: Orange juice
Favorite dog: Jackie

Lily had her 2 year well check-up last week. She is 25 pounds and 33 inches. She had a hemoglobin test and did not mind but insisted on multiple "meatballs" afterwards (cotton balls). She impressed her Doctor with full sentences and even counted to 10 (although a bit out of order).

Some funny recent pictures:

Like my outfit, Unkeee Troy?
