Announcements Announcements Announcements!

Noah had a fantastic time at Cub Scouts camp this year. Nathan and I were a "den walkers" (meaning we walked around and helped the scouts out throughout the day). The first day I was a den walker it poured down rain. We were completely drenched, but the boys still had a great time. Lily came with us for the week, and she had a blast too. She sat patiently and participated in some of the activities.Noah got to make a battery powered boat, water rocket, and a toolbox. I was a den walker on woodworking day (not a good idea), and I was put in charge of 7 Bears (all going into 3rd grade). I had a woodworking expert help me and finally finished all seven toolboxes (not an easy task).
Each day of camp was started with lots of songs including a somewhat annoying song called Announcements. I think the kids kind of enjoyed that I couldn't get the song out of my mind all week and sang it even in my sleep. While I pounded nail after nail into the toolboxes, I sang the song with gritted teeth.
Noah once again loved going to the trading post to buy rabbit skins and candy. What could be better for an 8-year-old boy? He also loved shooting guns and bow and arrows. Next year when he is a Webelo he gets to go fishing which is something to look forward to.
Until then, Announcements Announcements Announcements! Words of wisdom, words of wisdom, here they come...

A Kansas Reunion
June 29, 2009, 4:33 pm
We went to Kansas this month for a family reunion with lots of Aunts and Uncles and Cousins. Nathan competed in a half ironman in Lawrence, Kansas, so we coordinated a fun trip for all.During our reunion, we got to meet baby Hayden, my niece Kayla's beautiful son. Ever since the visit, Lily's favorite game to play is "baby". She loved holding and feeding Hayden bottles, so now she wants to be a baby.
We also celebrated Grandpa's 68th birthday with a very fun party planned by Lauren. She made an amazing cake and even had treat bags (a huge hit with Lily and Huck).
I enjoyed watching Noah, Lily, Lauren, and Huck play together and enjoy lots of outdoor activities. Oh and I loved watching Lily paint Huck, Grandma, and JJ's toe nails. She got lots of good experience.

Summertime is officially and obviously here. It's really hot out there, so you'll find the Tacketts at neighborhood pools (thank goodness for those!) and slip-n-slides and anywhere else there is water. What's my favorite part of summer so far? Papa going down the slip-n-slide of course. Thank goodness Lily has 20 swimming suits that have been passed down to her because she changes her suit each hour.
Just for you Aunt JJ:
