Big girl
June 26, 2006, 12:17 pm
Lily is acting very grown up these days. First off, she speaks in sentences. Her sentence structure is a little off, but we know what she's saying. Here are some typical Lily sentences:You like it, birds?
I need it, Lily's blankie!
We started going to church, and lots of people come to meet us and shake our hands. Papa always stands up to shake hands with people. Lily watches what we do very closely, so after Papa and I shook a man's hand at church yesterday she got off of her seat and walked over to him and put out her hand and shook his hand. We giggled over that all day.
This morning Papa took Lily to Theresa's house (babysitter), and I was still at home with Noah. Lily followed Papa out of the house and yelled back at me, "Bye bye Mama!" I still have the image of my little girl walking off in her pink dress and pink Barbie sandals.[ 1 comment ] ( 14 views )

Some pictures of Noah and Lily at the zoo with Papa yesterday:
I hope they don't expect Mama to take them to the scary birdhouse where birds land on you. Oh, Papa...what have you done?[ 2 comments ] ( 16 views )
Playmates
June 20, 2006, 7:55 am
IT'S OFFICIAL: Noah and Lily are playmates!I have been waiting for this moment, and I can safely say that they SOMTIMES enjoy each other's company.
Here they are playing in the backyard together:
I had to drag Lily in kicking and screaming for bed (literally). Noah said, "Can't she please stay up longer so that we can play more?" This is coming from the kid who often asks if we can put Lily to bed for a nap or the night so that he can play alone with Papa or me.
(I did let Lily stay up a little longer by the way.)[ 2 comments ] ( 20 views )

Lily often cries while I do dishes in the evening. A few nights ago I brought a chair over and let Lily help me. I think I made Lily's night:

June 14, 2006, 3:12 pm
Lily has started pointing out when strangers are not someone she knows. For example, we were at the Dr.'s office, and we were sitting across from a man who really resembled Grandpa. Lily looked at him very carefully and asked, "Grandpa?" The nice man looked up and started talking to me. Lily sat there thinking and then declared, "NOT Grandpa!" She repeated this over and over again. The man told Lily that he was a grandpa to 22 grandchildren, but Lily just shook her head and said, "NOT Grandpa!" After all, he is not Lily's Grandpa.Yesterday we were at the library, and Lily saw a man in his 30's that resembled her Papa a bit from the back. When he turned around I heard her yell, "NOT Papa!" Mama's broken toe
June 14, 2006, 3:09 pm
I recently broke my toe due to my klutziness. Noah and Lily are very concerned about Mama's broken toe. Noah and I pray together every night, and he asks to pray first for my toe. He says, "Dear God, please heal Mama's toe." I got a special shoe (very fashionable) from the doctor yesterday, and Noah insists that I wear it all the time. This morning he set out my special shoe so that I would remember to wear it. He also asks me to remind him about my toe so that he doesn't accidentally step on it.Lily also asks about Mama's toe. She wants to kiss it, so I let her kiss a different toe. I don't really want her kissing my sore toe. She keeps showing me her toes because she thinks Lily should have a broken toe too.[ 3 comments ] ( 24 views )

Look who came to visit us...
Grandpa visited us for a whole week! Noah and Lily had a blast.
Lily said "OH GRANDPA!" a lot and gave Grandpa lots of things to hold and tried to run from Grandpa and keep her foot safe (he kept trying to eat her foot).
Grandpa got to see Noah's first and second T-ball games (ever). He also got to see Noah graduate from preschool and go on Noah's field trip to the park on the last day of school. Grandpa and Noah also took lots of bike rides, ate ice cream, watched Harry Potter movies over and over again, slept during Harry Potter movies, and planted tomatoes and peppers in the garden.[ 2 comments ] ( 18 views )
