The Graduate
May 27, 2006, 8:04 am
Noah graduated from preschool yesterday. Grandpa was here from Kentucky for the ceremony. Noah was very excited and proud. The preschool teachers asked all of the students a number of questions and then read their answers at the graduation. Parents had to guess which was their child.
Just to give you an example of some of the answers, most of the boys wanted to be police officers or car mechanics when they grow up. When asked what was the one thing that they wanted if they could have anything in the world, most of them wanted toys.
Here are Noah's answers:
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Turkey
Q: What is your favorite thing about preschool?
A: Circle time
Q: What are you looking forward to about kindergarten?
A: Learning how to spell new words
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: A golf pro
Q: What is the one thing you would want if you could have anything in the world?
A: A van for my Mom.

When I took Noah to preschool this morning he ran up to his friend Hunter and exclaimed, "I'm 5!" Hunter and Noah then hugged. He proceeded to hug all of his preschool friends after telling them the big news. When I picked him up he told me that his friend Raymond gave him the "I love you" sign language sign today. These boys. I wish they could stay this sweet and loving...[ 3 comments ] ( 26 views )
2 more days
May 20, 2006, 12:54 pm
The big news at our house is that Noah will be 5 in two days. This is huge. We're talking the end of preschool and the start of "big school."
Noah is very excited to be a whole handful of fingers old. He's very excited to have chores now: making his bed, getting dressed on his own every time, and feeding Jack. He can't wait for summer vacation. And if you ask him if he's starting school next year, he'll correct you, "NO! THIS YEAR!"[ 3 comments ] ( 21 views )

Grandparents Day
May 12, 2006, 7:55 pm
Today was Grandparents day at Noah's preschool. The theme was "Ho' Down" and Noah very excited to wear his jeans, button down shirt, and cowboy hat. The kids have been practicing a square dance for weeks to perform for the Grandparents and special friends.I asked Noah whom he wanted to invite to Grandparents day since his Grandparents live too far away to come. After thinking about it for a little while, Noah said he wanted to go with his Auntie Deb. They had a great time...

May 12, 2006, 11:11 am
I remember praying that Noah would sleep through the night when he was a baby. As any parent knows, you are never guaranteed a full night of sleep once you have a baby. I love my sleep, and I had a hard time adjusting to the random wakeups after Noah's birth. On Wednesday I woke up at 7:30 a.m. and the house was quiet. Noah and Lily have been sleeping until 8 or so lately because they are out playing in the nice weather and exhausted by the time they get to sleep.
I went into Noah's room and told him that he needed to get up for school. Noah said, "Just give me 5 more minutes Mom" and rolled over and fell back to sleep. I keep giggling over it.[ 1 comment ] ( 13 views )

Noah is really into May Day. Well maybe I am too... He loves dropping off baskets at his friend's houses. Last year I drove right up to the houses and he ran up and left the baskets. This year he wanted to be sneaky. He really didn't want Emily and Matt to catch us. So at 7 a.m. I was up running through wet grass and lifting Noah over fences (small fences but still). We successfully left 2 of the 5 baskets without being seen. We're very proud. Next year we're wearing camouflage and working on plans weeks in advance.p.s. May is Noah's birthday month. I think that's one of the reasons May Day is so exciting.

Lily's phrases

Here are a few of my favorite things that Lily says these days:"I want Mama hold you!" (whenever she wants me to pick her up)
"Thank you very much!"
