Zoo day

Conversation in the car on the way to the zoo:Noah says, "Raise your hand if you want to go to the zoo!"
(everyone raises their hands)
"Raise your hand if you want to go to the zoo every week!"
(everyone raises their hands)
"Raise your hands if you want to go to the Niabi zoo every week!"
(everyone raises their hands)
"Raise your hands if you want to go to the zoo two times a week!"
(everyone raises their hands)
Lily says, "Raise your hands if you want to go to the poop poop zoo!"
(roaring laughter from the backseat, eye rolls in the front seat)
While at the zoo, Lily pointed out every stinky smell we passed. She's right...you could call it the poop poop zoo.

Blinky Pinky

Lily is a little outrageous these days. She blinks constantly when she talks. We refer to her as Blinky. She loves to paint fingernails (her own and everyone else's). She pretends to eat food out of books, pretends that she's Kevin, pretends to take chin hairs off of Papa and put them on her chin. She throws brilliant tantrums. She has her Mama wrapped around her finger (and reading her books over and over again at night and singing countless songs) but knows that Papa can't be manipulated. She likes to go to sleep at Matt and Dawn's house in Kevin's crib and ask for someone to tell her goodnight (such as Dawn's sister Joanna). She's scared of the Easter Bunny and Chuck E. Cheese but talks about them daily. She dances with one hand tucked up under her armpit and her hip stuck out. She sings her ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in the sweetest little voice. She gets a big smirk on her face when she is sent to time out. She waits a long time to say, "I'm sorry" and then says it without really opening her mouth.She's basically running the show...

April seems to be the month of travels. We have been on trips three weekends in a row. Noah spent a wonderful week in Kansas with his Grandmas and Grandpa. He had fun playing checkers, battle ship, baseball, golf, and lots of monopoly with his grandparents. Noah loves monopoly now, and he insists on buying Park place, Boardwalk, and Illinois.Lily and I met Grandma, Grandpa, and Noah in Nebraska City at the end of his week of grandparent fun. The pool was a big hit with Noah and Lily.
Somehow Noah looked older after just a week away...

Every year I drop off Noah in Kansas to spend spring break with his Grandparents. This year our friends Matt, Dawn, Emily, and Kevin came along to see our home state. Turns out Kansas is in bloom this time of year and very green. Dawn was especially impressed with all of the beautiful red bud trees.Exciting things happened in Kansas. Kevin took his first steps! Matt and I took lots and lots of walks (sometimes we just walked in place). Emily and Noah went on lots of Easter egg hunts. Lily covered her body in lots of fingernail polish and lip-gloss.
