Searching for Gam-ma

April 28, 2006, 12:37 pm

Grandma made quite an impression on Lily last week. Grandma gave Lily a tea set, and they had a little tea party together at the hotel. Grandma called the tea coffee as Nathan and I drink coffee. Lily loves to have coffee parties with her pretend coffee. She will fill your cup over and over again, and it never gets old.

Lily carries her little tea set around in a bag offering Nathan and I "coffees?" She also sets a place for her Grandma each time. The blue tea cup is for Grandma. She fills up Grandma's cup and talks about her Grandma. It's one of the sweetest things I've ever seen.

Yesterday I took Lily grocery shopping and she saw a woman who looked about Grandma's age (you know, 45ish) with short dark hair. Lily went crazy and started yelling, "GAM-MA! GAM-MA!" The woman just smiled at her and walked away. Lily was very upset that Gam-ma didn't stop to talk to her. She continued yelling for Gam-ma the rest of the time we shopped. She's searching for her friend. She needs to serve her coffee.

A week with bbg

April 17, 2006, 4:26 pm

While Noah has been spending 10 whole days with his grandparents in Kansas, Nathan and I have had some nice quality time with Lily.

Lily wakes up every morning and asks for Noah. She says, "I WANT NOAH!" a lot. She is excited to see him tomorrow when we meet him and Grandma and Grandpa in Nebraska at a hotel. Swimming AND Noah sound very fun to Lily.

Here are some of the fun things we have done with Lily this week...

Lily discovered her own table outside and loves to have picnics:

Lily played with her friend Aaron (a nice substitute for Noah):

The Easter bunny brought Lily just what she wanted...plastic eggs and "cho-co-late":

Lily chased lots of "burds" in the backyard:

But now Lily is ready for her big brother to come home. She may say "NO!" to him a lot and hit him sometimes, but she loves her Noah.

10 whole days

April 10, 2006, 9:00 pm

Noah is spending 10 whole days in Kansas with his Grandma and Grandpa. He has been counting down to this for over a month. He's been packed for two weeks.

And why?

Because it's GRANDMA

(notice ice cream on their noses)

and GRANDPA

(notice matching caps)

and Noah loves them very much. They set up a special work desk for Noah (complete with a lamp and even a name plate) in the basement (you know Noah works almost every day). And when Noah asks Grandpa if he will go downstairs and play with the cars and trucks and trains Grandpa always says, "I'll do whatever you want, Noah!" (Mama doesn't always say that).

So stay tuned for stories of Noah's adventures with Grandma and Grandpa and Spanky. I'm sure he'll come home completely spoiled...

Growing up

April 3, 2006, 10:40 am

Noah almost made it through this winter without getting sick. Quite an accomplishment for a boy who has been sick a lot in his life. Noah came down with a bad cough and fever last weekend. We took him to the hospital yesterday. For the first time the doctor and nurse spoke to Noah directly. They asked him what symptoms he was having, and Noah told the nurse more than what he told us at home. Noah was very brave. Nathan and I just sat there while Noah handled everything. When did he get so grown up?
