Kindergarten Roundup

Last week Noah, Nathan, and I attended Kindergarten Roundup. Yep, Noah is going to Kindergarten next year. He likes to comfort me and tell me that he will come home for dinner AND he will be sleeping at home. Thank goodness!

Noah listened to the teacher's presentation, and he now zips up his own coat. The Kindergarten teachers emphasized that the students need to put on all of their own outdoor gear, and Noah took this very seriously.

Noah also told me that he plans to stay on green (green is good, yellow is a warning, and red is bad) so that he can go to recess every day. He's very excited about the cool playground at "big school."

Noah is most excited about riding the school bus every day. I mean, what could be more exciting to an almost 5-year-old boy?

Crabby

I was on the phone with Nathan's Mom (a.k.a. Grandma), and she asked about the kids. So I told her about Noah and what he's like these days. Then I tried to describe Lily. I found myself at a loss for words. I heard Noah yell out in the background, "SHE'S CRABBY! TELL HER SHE'S CRABBY!"

Noah mentioned last night that he is excited for when Lily gets a little older like 3 or 4 and isn't so crabby.

We love you, babygirl, but you are a bit crabby...

Sweet bbg

Lily is very sweet lately. She went through a difficult stage for about a month where she tested us all the time (and said NO! NO! NO! a lot). She still says "no!" plenty, but she is sweet most of the time.

Here are some adorable things she likes to do...

Wipe her baby's bottoms (some wipes and a few babies will keep her busy for about an hour)

Store her baby's fake juice in the fridge (I find it in there and giggle):

Request that I put "pretty dresses" and "pretty shoes" on her. She then walks around the house and looks down a lot commenting on "pretty Lily":

Almost-5-year-old Boy

Do you know what almost 5-year-old boys like to do? They like to play with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and wrestle. This is what Noah likes to do anyway...and his friend Clayton. Sadly I know the 4 turtle's names (and nicknames), weapons of choice, and theme song to the cartoon (which is often stuck in my head).

Noah had Clayton over yesterday afternoon, and here are some highlights:

Strong Boy

Noah is at the age (almost 5) where he often wants junk food, to skip his meal and eat snacks all day, and to drink pop instead of milk. So we tell him that if he eats healthy foods and drinks milk then he will get big and strong. (That's true you know)

Nathan was gone last week on a business trip, and Noah only ate healthy things and drank milk. He refused "junk" foods and even drank 2 glasses of milk at meals for extra strength. He couldn't wait for Papa's return when he had planned to wrestle Papa and win due to his recent increase in strength.

I was leaving for NY right after Nathan returned, so I let him know of Noah's plan. I told Nathan that he had to let Noah win if they wrestled.

The next morning Noah woke up and came to see us. Nathan held out his arm and told Noah to try to move it (a game they often play). Noah used all of his might, and amazingly Papa's arm moved down. Nathan then asked, "What have you been eating, Noah?" Noah got the biggest smile on his face...

Sentences

Lily speaks in sentences a lot these days. Here are a few of her favorites:

I want Noah!
I want Papa!
I want Mama!
I want Jackie!
I want juice!
I want cookies!
I am poopy.
I want to potty!
I want blanket!
Night night moon (kissing noises)!

Each sentence is said with much enthusiasm, with pauses between each word, and repeated many times.
