My sister-in-law's best friend from college moved near us, and now we're great friends and our kids play together. Now I have an even bigger coincidence. My best friend from grade school on was also good friends with a girl named Jenny in high school. We just discovered that Jenny lives in the same area that we do. Not only that...she also married a guy from our high school and has a 5-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter. Wait, it doesn't stop there. Jenny and I are both dietitians. I think it's crazy that Dominique has two dietitian friends named Jenny living in the same area with kids the same age and gender.

So I took these pictures just for you, Dominique. Here are the boys:

New Family Member

Lily has a new best friend, Doggie. He eats with her, plays with her, and she puts him to sleep a lot during the day. They sleep together at night, but she won't let him use her star pillow.

Sometimes they fight, and Nathan and I notice that Doggie gets in time out a lot. We feel bad for Doggie and ask Lily why he's in time out so much, and she says things like, "He's naughty!" and "He pushed me!" But then they're best friends again eating at the table and carrying on.

Dress Up

Just Say No

A few months ago Noah learned about drugs in school. He learned that drugs are very bad and make you feel sick. His teacher compared doing drugs to eating an entire cake. Unfortunately Noah is confused by analogies and now believes that cake and sweets are drugs. Nathan and I tried to explain that drugs are something different, but Noah has never seen drugs and can't quite grasp the concept.

A few days ago we were watching a show on television where some police officers pulled over a car with drugs in it. Due to the chase, the car exploded. We told Noah that drugs were in the car and that the people were breaking the law. Noah got teary eyed and asked, "So drugs make cars explode?" Nathan and I chuckled a little and Nathan explained why the car exploded.

Noah paused and said, "Because sometimes I have drugs in the car...."

(Nathan and I exchanged confused looks)

Noah continued, "Like M&M's or maybe cake! We eat stuff like that in the car sometimes."

Nathan and I then (kind of frantically) tried to explain that sweets are not drugs.

We sure hope Noah doesn't tell anyone we have drugs in the car...
