Sentimental

I got a little carried away thinking about Noah turning 5 in May...

January 25, 2006, 10:23 am
Noah enjoyed counting down to my birthday this year. We started counting down a few weeks in advance. He picked out a present for me, and this is the first year he kept it a secret. Here is my gift (after Noah opened it for me):
And here we are playing with my gift (Noah won both times):
Nathan and Noah made me a lemon cake, and Noah wrote my name on it in green frosting. He was very excited:
Lily enjoyed eating it:
And my favorite quote of the day... Nathan gave me a yellow flower arrangement for my birthday, and Noah asked me what a certain flower was. I told him it was a rose. He asked, "So when is it going to turn red?"
Favorite conversation of the day...
Mama: Do you like this sweater Aunt Lori gave me? (while wearing new sweater)
Noah: Yes, I do
(pause)
Noah: I want you to wear the sweater I got you when you go to work not just at home.
Mama: Noah, you didn't get me a sweater for my birthday
Noah: Oh, that's true.

Independent

Lily is very independent. She prefers to play by herself. She can often be found drawing at Noah's desk. She just wants to be left alone, and she gets very upset if you try to move her...

I bought some new exercise clothes this week. I was modeling them for Noah, and I asked him how I looked as I dramatically walked around the room.Noah said, "You look good. Your bottom jiggles a little, but you still look good!"

And the winner is...

Aunt JJ!Although her answer was not completely correct, I was impressed with her answer on Noah's drawing. His picture was indeed a kangaroo in Australia! Good job, JJ! Thank you to everyone else who played. Uncle Troy, your answer certainly got some laughs.
Here is what we did...
-Went to storytime at the library where the theme was kangaroos. Noah made a kangaroo puppet and a picture of a kangaroo on a tile.
-Ate at our favorite Indian restaurant (which Noah picked). Noah drank a mango lassi.
-Went to the Putnum Museum where we saw an Astronaut movie at the Imax Theater. The movie was 3D and scared the heck out of Noah (he ended up on my lap with his glasses off).
-Toured the Elephant exhibit at the museum.
-Played in the discovery room at the museum.
-Enjoyed vanilla ice cream cones from McDonalds on the way home.
**JJ, your prize will come the first of March. Check on your doorstep.**[ 3 comments ] ( 20 views )

Noah and I had our first special day of the year. I will send you a prize if you can guess where we went and what we did (and what Noah drew in the 2nd picture). Good Luck!A photo journal:
And at the end of it all Noah said, "THIS WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!"
(Helpful hint: read what is on Noah's fancy glasses)

Driving with Lily
January 3, 2006, 9:55 pm
We decided (quite spontaneously) to travel 9 hours to Kansas for New Years weekend. Kind of a crazy idea with a 4-year-old and 1-year-old. Noah was great in the car and played with his leapster, cars, etc. He played "I spy" with Papa and entertained himself by staring out the window. Lily demanded much more attention, and I captured some moments on film. Here is her first ever "cheese" picture (I said "say cheese" and she did):
Slaphappy mode:
Magnadoodle fun (the girl loves to draw):
And how we like Lily best while in the car (she had just read her favorite two books to herself and fallen asleep):

Cute Baby Girl
January 3, 2006, 8:16 pm
Here are some cute things that Lily does...Picks up my picture cell phone, opens it up, holds it in front of her face, and says, "CHEESE!" with a big grin.
Holds the phone to her ear and yells, "HELLO?!" very loudly and a with a little annoyance in her voice.
Yells, "JULIA!" when we drive up to the babysitter's house (that's her name of course).
Brings me her baby doll and insists that it's poopy and asks for the clothes to be taken "OFF!"
Makes a loud "AHHH!" sound after she takes a drink of juice or water and then asks, "Grandpa?" (because Grandpa did this last weekend when he drank his coffee).
Says "pish" (fish) and "turkey" when she sees her Papa. Looks for her Papa under his pillow when he's at work and then laughs and laughs.
Plays hide and seek from me. She always hides under our bed. She can be found face down halfway under the bed with her feet sticking out and shaking with laughter. She giggles when I pull her out. Sometimes she goes right back to her hiding place when I'm still sitting there.
Holds food out to Jack and then pulls it away and yells, "NO NO NO JACKIE!"
Says "WOA!" whenever she falls or does anything dramatic.
She cracks us up...
